Can You Drink Beer With Breakfast?

Beer for Breakfast?

Would you like to enjoy a chilled mug of beer with your breakfast?  The ‘Black Isle Brewery’ of Scotland is hoping that you would forgo your morning cuppa and orange juice for their latest brew, the ‘Cold Turkey Breakfast Beer’. The alcohol content of the beer has been kept at an inordinately low level of 2.8% in deference of the meal with which it is supposed to be consumed. The drink does taste typically malty with a hint of coffee and might even make you forgo your breakfast cereal as it contains barley, oats and wheat.

The Reaction

Not everyone is amused though as Dr. Evelyn Gillan of ‘Alcohol Focus Scotland’ pointed out. He blasted the company for its irresponsible behavior which led it to market the alcoholic drink as a healthy breakfast beverage. The founder of the brewery, David Gladwin, is sticking to his facts for the moment. He states that it will indeed be beneficial for people who have been up and about for 4-5 hours before they settle down for a meal. Gladwin also stressed that the Breakfast Beer will actually help people to drink healthy. However, he did not forget to mention that his pet product can in no way serve as a substitute for the most import meal of the day i.e. breakfast!
