 Photo: Poverty is on the rise in the United States. The number of people getting food stamp program has risen by 70-percent since 2008 to almost 50 million citizens. Meanwhile, research shows that since the financial crisis, each year has brought lower median incomes than the last for Americans. At the same time, a judge accepted the California city of Stockton's bankruptcy application on Monday, making it the most populous city in the nation to enter bankruptcy.

Where is the US economy headed to? Will growing inequality define President Barack Obama’s era?
