Well, we understand your dilemma and that is why we figured out a way to avoid this by using dyeing agents found in candies, which can be used to dye your Easter eggs in a safe way this year.
Now & Later Candies
Boil a tablespoon of vinegar in 2 cups of water, add 12 Now & Later candies and let it simmer for about 15 minutes. Strain this mixture into a bowl or mug. The strained mixture can be used for dyeing eggs.
Red Hots
Who doesn’t love Red Hots? Well, now your kids can do much more with them than just pop them into their mouths. Take one tablespoon of vinegar in 2 cups of water and boil. Add 7oz. of Red Hots candy and simmer for 15 minutes, then strain. Use the liquid to dye eggs.
Jell-O
Everybody’s favorite Jell-O can now be used to dye Easter eggs too. In an equal parts vinegar-water mix, add 1 tablespoon of Jell-O, simmer (15 minutes), strain and use for dyeing. With so many Jell-O flavors available, imagine the number of colors you can use to dye your eggs!!
Kool-Aid
One tablespoon Kool-Aid is to be added to a boiling mixture of one tablespoon of vinegar and 2 cups of water. Simmer it for 15 minutes, strain and use.
