What KFC Does Not Want To Tell You

It is nearly impossible for a person to never try a KFC. The restaurant is currently the world’s largest chicken restaurant chain and the second largest restaurant chain, the first being McDonald’s. Usually there is almost no change in the quality of the food or the menu for international outlets, and among many other reasons for its immense success, this reason also has a major role.
Most of the outlets of KFC are based on a franchise basis while only a few are operated directly by the company. These outlets have to buy the raw material from the company itself and also have to provide them with a certain percentage of their monthly profit.

KFC: What’s In A Name?

In 1991, Kentucky Fried Chicken permanently shortened their name to KFC. Officially, this was due to a disagreement with the state of Kentucky, but an urban legend quickly spread through the internet, claiming the fast food chain could no longer legally use the word “chicken” in their name because they don’t serve chicken, they serve… something else. It’s rumored that the animals that eventually become crispy strips and hot wings are genetically manipulated beyond recognition: six legs, no feet, no beaks, barely any bones. KFC called the rumors a silly hoax, adding: “Our chicken is purchased through many of the same suppliers that you might find in your local grocery store.”

Do You Know How To Deal With A Lobster?

Lobster 1

Lobster is considered to be the ‘king of seafood’, not just for its delicious meat but also for its appearance, which makes it difficult to tackle, especially by novice cooks, who can’t make the head or tail of a lobster. Even as it is true that adding a lobster to a menu makes it instantly luxurious, it can be a bit difficult to tackle, be it its juicy claws, or the tender tails. However, if you are determined to make a meal out of a lobster, here is how you can do so, at minimal risk to your limbs or face:

1. How to Remove Lobster Meat:

a. You need to hold the lobster firmly with one hand. Twist its claw off, keep it aside and then twist off its legs too, one by one.
Lobster 2

b. You need to hit the claw until it cracks. This can be done with a heavy knife or a small mallet. Separate the pincer from the claw and break the latter into three parts.

c. Crack open the claw and the pincers, and take out the meat.

d. Place the body of the lobster in front of you, flattened on a kitchen board. Insert a sharp knife into the middle of the body and slice open the lobster lengthwise. As it opens out, pull out the stomach sac, feather gills and the intestines.
Lobster 3

e. Halve the tail and ease out the meat in whole.

2. How to Buy a Lobster:

a. Even before you start to cut a lobster, you should be able to identify how to buy a fresh lobster, which will eventually make a good meal. So, the first thing to learn is that the tail of your lobster should curl when you pick it up in your hands.

b. A lobster should show no signs of discoloration, so that is what you check the next.

c. Ensure that its both claws are perfect and aligned.

d. Softer lobster shell means the meat will be sweet while the harder shell means it will have more meat. So, the choice is yours.

3. How to Store A Lobster:

a. The best thing to do is to cook a lobster immediately after you purchase it from the market.

b. If you have to store it, then do so by wrapping up the live lobster in a damp towel and chilling them.

c. As for cooked lobster meat, you can store it in the refrigerator for up to three days after having cooked it.

6 Brunch Mistakes To Avoid

Brunch 1

A good brunch is the best way to get your body cells working, especially over the weekend. However, before you pile up your plate and give yourself a major diet setback, pay attention to these six brunch mistakes, which you may be committing without knowing about it.

1. Brunch is a Mistake in Itself
It may be a bit confusing for you but it is true. The biggest of all mistakes is going for the brunch in the first place. As one nutrition puts it, “Brunch is a calorie suicide”, not just because it is expensive but also because one could end up consuming up to 4,000 calories in just one meal. That is double the daily calorie requirement of an average adult.
Brunch 2

2. Choose Savory over Sweet
Surprised again? Well, you have often struggled with the choice of sweet or savory at a brunch outing, haven’t you? The nutrition experts suggest you should opt for savory brunch options like a combination of whole grains and proteins like Huevos rancheros with avocado. However, take care that your savory options are not too salty.
Brunch 3

3. Don’t Confuse Brunch with Breakfast
Going for a brunch doesn’t mean you are not gonna eat anything before that. Since you need calories to burn calories, you need to get your metabolism going even before you begin to eat you brunch. So, don’t starve yourself till brunch time or your sluggish metabolism will not operate efficiently. Pick up a healthy snack in the morning like an apple or yogurt with berries and nuts.
Brunch 4

4. Avoid Drinks on the Brunch Menu
The Bloody Marys and the adult coffee drinks available on a brunch menu should be strictly avoided because you can easily put away a lot of calories without even realizing it. Just pick up a 12-ounce beverage and stick to it or choose lighter options like wine Spritzer or mimosas.
Brunch 5

5. Don’t be fooled by Customizable Options
The customizable options are no good because with the healthy egg, you may also be eating meat and cheeses, so the calorie count goes for a toss. Some dishes on the brunch menu can be high in calories just because a lot of ingredients go into making them. So, too many ingredients means a calorie overdose, beware of it!
Brunch 6

6. Avoid the Salt Lick!
You may be worried about all the fat, calories and sugar while in reality, the salt may be sneaking up to you slowly but surely. There is salt in your drinks, omelet, sauce, etc. So you need to ensure that the innocent bites are really innocent.

Fred DeNegri was grilling in his backyard when he cracked open a can of Diet Pepsi, took a thirsty gulp and immediately started gagging. The flavor of his Pepsi was rank and the texture was thick like slime. He immediately took it to a sink and shook out the contents until something resembling "pink linguini" slid out, followed by "dark stuff”. Despite persistent shaking, a heavy object remained inside the can. Completely disgusted, the DeNegris immediately called poison control and the FDA, and the can was taken in for lab testing to identify the source of the sludgy mess. The couple received a copy of the completed report from the Food and Drug Administration Office of Regulatory Affairs, which concluded the foreign matter appeared to be a frog or a toad.[SOURCE]

A man found part of a severed finger packed inside a pint of frozen custard he'd bought from a Kohl's Frozen Custard shop, and officials said it belonged to a worker injured in a food-processing machine accident there. The customer, Clarence Stowers, said he put the finger in his mouth, thinking it was a piece of candy when he opened the pint at home. Stowers said he spat the object out, and "I said, 'God, this ain't no nut!' So I came in here to the kitchen and rinsed it off with water and realized it was a human finger and I just started screaming."

The custard shop owner, Craig Thomas, said that the 23-year-old employee who lost the finger had dropped a bucket while working with a machine that dispenses the custard. He tried to catch the bucket when the accident occurred. Thomas said that as several employees tried to help the injured worker, a drive-thru window attendant apparently scooped the chocolate custard into a pint before being told what had happened.[SOURCE]

But what she wasn't expecting to find was the dead mouse which had somehow ended up in the jar - along with the rest of her favorite sauce. The nursery worker had begun making dinner for herself and her boyfriend, Nigel, when she poured the sauce into the pan, and noticed it was a little lumpy.
